“No recovery from trauma is possible without attending to issues of safety, care for the self, reparative connections to other human beings, and a renewed faith in the universe. The therapist's job is not just to be a witness to this process but to teach the patient how.”

I offer somatic and depth-oriented psychotherapy rooted in science, philosophy, and spirituality from many teachers. While we’ll be talking, we won’t be “just talking.” Just talking doesn’t produce effective or lasting change. The science tells us that our neurobiology, which includes the nervous system which travels throughout the whole body, is a HUGE factor in why we behave and feel the way we do. The only way to transform our experience is to work with the body and with levels of processing below the level of consciousness.
Science-y words you can look up:
sensorimotor psychotherapy
polyvagal theory
interpersonal process therapy
somatic psychotherapy
psychodynamic psychotherapy
attachment-based therapy
existential psychotherapy

The short answer is, no. The longer answer is that I will support you in using any out of network benefits that your insurer provides. The insurance system is broken. Too often, therapists are not able to provide good quality care to clients because they have to see too many clients and aren’t afforded the time to attend proper trainings, among other activities necessary to provide the highest quality of care. It has become increasingly important to me to see that my clients receive this standard of care, I cannot participate in the existing insurance system and deliver on this promise.

I’m so sorry. It’s really more of a norm and not an exception to have a bad therapy experience, especially if you’re struggling in the kinds of ways that brought you here, to me. While I practice within the framework of the systems that created therapy, I bring a unique perspective as an AuDhder who embraces deep thought and feeling. There are no bad questions with me. And I’m not afraid to stare into the void with you.
I also work on being aware of the sociological, political, and environmental factors that affect me as a human, you as a human, and our therapeutic work together. I recognize there are many ways that I am both privileged, disabled, marginalized, and erased from our world and my reckoning here helps me to meet you in the many ways you are all of these things as well in your own way.
Ultimately, though the only way to know for sure if I’m the right fit for you, though is to schedule a consult and take a leap of faith. I’ll do my best to help you determine if working with me is a good fit for you.
